The cameras have most often been commissioned on request by a security company and placed in locations determined, in conjunction with the security company, to provide optimal camera coverage. The specific security company pays Vumacam for access to the feed, eliminating the need to build out their own camera network infrastructure. Vumacam does not charge any residents and does not enter into any contracts with residents.
Security companies determine whether they absorb the extra cost of the surveillance or not. They are either able to do so due to increased efficiencies in their business, or they pass the increase of the security solution cost on, to their clients. Vumacam has no input into this charge.
Vumacam provides open access Video Management as a service. Vumacam sells access of video feed to vetted companies whom they enter into a contract with, in order to abide by the terms and conditions which govern the acceptable use, processing and legitimate interest requirements. A company will engage with Vumacam, and if successfully vetted, enter into a contract, which stipulates their agreement to be periodically audited by an external company.
