The cameras have most often been commissioned on request by a security company and placed in locations determined, in conjunction with the security company, to provide optimal camera coverage. The specific security company pays Vuma Secure for access to the feed, eliminating the need to build out their own camera network infrastructure. Vuma Secure does not charge any residents and does not enter into any contracts with residents.
If residents do not pay for the cameras, what do they pay for?
Security companies determine whether they absorb the extra cost of the surveillance or not. They are either able to do so due to increased efficiencies in their business, or they pass the increase of the security solution cost on, to their clients. Vuma Secure has no input into this charge.
Vuma Secure provides open access Video Management as a service. Vuma Secure sells access of video feed to vetted companies whom they enter into a contract with, in order to abide by the terms and conditions which govern the acceptable use, processing and legitimate interest requirements. A company will engage with Vuma Secure, and if successfully vetted, enter into a contract, which stipulates their agreement to be periodically audited by an external company.
